Story line of any of the books of the writer is simple- a journey. This is a story of journey of a person who decides NOT to fake happiness and instead live life as per choice. The chosen path is full of social stigma, taboos, acceptances and rejections of choices and yes, it is considered as dangerous in conventional social norms and relationships. The novel is able to beautifully capture pleasure and pain of such path, which is more in the inner world of the person than at physical level. It is based on the background of s society and polity, which has elements of similarity with any other society and polity like fear of being caught in adulterous relationship, artificial and extremely self conscious behaviour of budding and established politicians, etc. I enjoyed this and I am sure you will also enjoy this. --Dwijendra Kashyap on Aug 18, 2014

Born in Rio de Janeiro in 1947, Paulo Coelho worked as a composer, a journalist and as an author and director for the theatre before dedicating his life to books. His books have been published in 168 countries and translated into 80 languages. His biggest success, The Alchemist, is considered the highest selling book written by a Brazilian.

He was elected to the Brazilian Academy of Letters in 2002 and in 2007 was named a United Nations Messenger of Peace. He has been married to Christina Oiticica since 1979.
