it dose not play .flv files that's the files played with videoLAN VLC media player....so it gives an messege " this player file is not supported"

Worth the money spent

Just brought this model from flipkart..The delivery was spot on time..packaging was super amazing..the product being a sony obviously is good..would recommend to go in for this model (DVP-SR660P DVD Player) rather thn the base sony model costing 2090 rupees (DVP-SR320 DVD Player) ..good quality and loaded with more features

Old is gold

I bought this player to replace my aging Sony DVP-NS50P which Ive had since 2005. For me the most important thing I look for in a DVD player is the ability to play writable and scratched DVDs. And the NS50P was remarkable in this regard. I also have the legendary Denon 2910, but it turned out to be a waste of money since it gives up on even slightly bad discs... I chose the SR660P because of (1) my good experience with the NS50P and (2) the 5.1 Channel audio output that the SR660P offers which surprisingly none of the other Sony models offer. However I was disappointed by the way Sony quality has declined over the years. The build of the SP660P was nowhere near the solid build of the NS50P, and most disappointingly, its performance on scratched DVDs was nowhere near its older sibling. Another useful feature of the SR660P is the ability to play from a flash drive. I was hoping that at the very least I could copy a damaged disc to my PC, repair it using a recovery software and then play the content via the flash drive on the SR660P. I was in for a nasty surprise. I found that the SR660P will only play the individual VTS files. It does not read or process the IFO files. So no menus are displayed. Any viewing options on the disc such as subtitles or audio track, scene selection etc, cant be selected. This is a big drawback. Finally the user manual is a slim booklet of abt 10 pages which is not very well written, and hardly informative. Compare this with the manual of the NS50P which is very written and runs to abt 70 pages! Is it any surprise that Sony is now struggling for survival? On the bright side, kudos (as usual) to Flipkart for prompt and painless service! This company never fails to impress. No one else even comes close. I sincerely hope that it is able to maintain its high level of service.
